Your tasks
We are seeking a Buyer to support our daily procurement and purchasing operations at our Penang, Malaysia site. This role focuses on purchase order processing, supplier coordination, order follow-up, documentation, and ensuring timely delivery of materials while maintaining compliance with company procedures.
Obtain and evaluate quotations from approved suppliers
Process purchase requisitions and create purchase orders in accordance with procurement procedures and cost engineering estimates
Manage day-to-day procurement activities for production, engineering and other purchasing requirements
Follow up with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery and proactively resolve delivery-related issues
Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier information, pricing, and procurement documentation
Coordinate with internal departments to ensure procurement requirements are fulfilled in a timely manner
Liaise with suppliers regarding quotations, order acknowledgements, delivery schedules, and invoice discrepancies
Monitor order status and provide regular updates to relevant stakeholders
Support supplier performance monitoring and maintain procurement-related reports and records
Assist in resolving issues relating to late delivery, quantity discrepancies and concerns in collaboration with suppliers and internal teams
Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements
Support cost-saving initiatives and continuous improvement of procurement processes
Support procurement activities involving make-to-order (MTO) and OEM parts, including reviewing technical specifications and engineering drawings with local and international subject matter experts
Your skills
Minimum relevant Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related discipline
2–4 years working experience in the manufacturing industry
Able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Responsible, meticulous, and proactive in following up on procurement activities
Good command of English, both written and spoken; additional language skills are an advantage
Proficient in MS Office (especially Excel); working experience with SAP is a plus
Understanding of technical specifications, engineering drawings and measurement methods are an added advantage
